Whole Wheat Couscous is produced in Israel and has a nuttier, chewier texture than regular couscous. It stands up well to heavy spices and robustly seasoned meats.
The Chriqui Family brought the tradition of serving couscous with them from Morocco, to France, and then to Israel. As the story goes, when the youngest Chriqui son requested his favorite meal in their new home, it was discovered that couscous was unknown and nowhere to be bought. Not wanting to deprive his son of the traditional flavors of home, David Chriqui set about producing his own. Starting out as a small family business, it grew into a modern manufacturing facility producing easy-to-prepare couscous that satisfied not only the domestic market, but pleased palates around the world.
